The Poetry of the Bai People

The Poetry of the Bai People is a body of work through which I reflect on, and attempt to express, the lived world of the Bai people through images. Over more than a decade of observation and recording, I have witnessed many changes—transformations that continue to shape their daily lives and cultural existence.

For me, these photographic moments belong to the realm of dreams and the unconscious. They reside in imagination rather than explanation. A photograph is a trace, and therefore photography is inherently poetic. I leave traces of journeys, traces of phenomena, and traces of encounters with what appears. This is the reason I work as an artist.

Each photograph tells a small story. Together, these countless fragments form an epic of the Bai people.
